Smart contracts, on-chain analysis and crypto-asset regulation

I have worked in digital asset markets since 2020, as an analyst, an investor and a builder. I write, test and deploy smart contracts on Ethereum and trace transaction flows to identify fraud patterns. I am also interested in how crypto-assets are supervised in Romania.

Services

What I take on for projects, crypto-asset service providers and the people who advise them.

Smart contract development

Token, hook and launch contracts for Ethereum: the economics settled first, then the code, tested on a mainnet fork and published with verified source.

  • ERC-20 tokens, Uniswap v4 hooks and launch contracts
  • An economic model of fees and rewards before any code is written
  • Mainnet-fork testing and byte-exact source verification

On-chain analysis

An evidence-based reading of a token or a set of wallets: what the contracts allow, who controls them, and how the funds moved.

  • Contract powers: minting, pausing, upgrades, blacklists, fees and who holds the liquidity
  • Transaction flow tracing across wallets, contracts and exchanges
  • Fraud patterns identified, each finding tied to the transactions behind it

MiCA consulting

Where a crypto-asset project or service stands under MiCA, and what has to be in place before it is offered in the EU.

  • Token classification: asset-referenced token, e-money token or other crypto-asset
  • White paper content and the obligations that follow from it
  • Scope of a CASP authorisation, with the ICT requirements of DORA

Crypto tax compliance (DAC8)

Preparing crypto-asset service providers for DAC8 reporting, in force since 1 January 2026.

  • Which users and which transactions are reportable
  • The data to collect, and due diligence on users
  • Reconciling on-chain records with what is reported

Smart contracts I build

I have written and deployed many contracts on Ethereum mainnet, from plain tokens to complete trading systems inside a Uniswap v4 pool.

Tokens

ERC-20 tokens with fixed or scheduled supply, burns and permits, and rewards that vest with how long the tokens are held.

Uniswap v4 hooks

Hooks that set the fee of each trade, take fees inside the swap, pin a pool’s opening price and run logic on every trade.

Launch contracts

One-transaction launchers, hook addresses mined with CREATE2 for their permission bits, and lockers that hold liquidity for good.

On-chain verification

Contracts that check facts themselves: drand randomness signatures over BLS12-381, commit and reveal, exact scoring of answers.

Testing and release

Tested on a mainnet fork before release, reviewed adversarially, and verified byte for byte on Etherscan.

Plain disclosure

Each contract states in its own source what its owner can and cannot do, and where it can fail.

Case studies

Four projects I designed, built and launched on Ethereum mainnet, each documented end to end: the problem, the contracts, how they were tested and how the project looks.

Regulation and analysis

Next to building, I follow how crypto-assets are regulated and supervised in Romania, and how fraud reaches people there.

Crypto scams in Romania

A presentation I gave at the invitation of the Romanian Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF, Autoritatea de Supraveghere Financiară).

A plan for crypto-asset supervision

Out of that interest, I drafted a plan for how the supervision of crypto-assets in Romania could be made operational.

On-chain analysis

I trace transaction flows between wallets, contracts and exchanges and identify the patterns behind fraud. Every review starts from the same question: who can still change what, and where does the money go?

The rules I work with

MiCA
Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2023/1114. One rulebook across the EU for issuers of crypto-assets and for crypto-asset service providers (CASPs): white papers, authorisation, conduct and market abuse. Applies in full since 30 December 2024; the titles on asset-referenced and e-money tokens since 30 June 2024.
DORA
Digital Operational Resilience Act, Regulation (EU) 2022/2554. ICT risk management, incident reporting, resilience testing and oversight of ICT third parties for financial entities, crypto-asset service providers included. Applies since 17 January 2025.
DAC8
Council Directive (EU) 2023/2226. Brings crypto-assets into the EU’s automatic exchange of tax information: crypto-asset service providers report their users’ transactions to the tax authorities. Applies since 1 January 2026.
